What is Parent Coaching?

Behavior coaching is a method that supports parents in understanding, addressing, and improving difficult behaviors by exploring their underlying causes. Instead of relying on punishment or rewards, it emphasizes neurodiversity-informed parenting, increased awareness, skill development, and ongoing support.

Parent Coaching provides individualized, one-on-one support to help you manage the unique challenges of parenting a complex child. Along with behavior support, we help parents navigate the K-12 school experience—offering guidance with IEPs, school evaluations, and communicating with educators. The focus isn’t on discipline or easy solutions; instead, it’s about developing parenting strategies that nurture connection, self-regulation, and long-term success.

Parent Coaching can help you understand your child’s unique brain and behavior patterns, and adjust expectations and strategies to set them up for success. It also helps you reduce meltdowns, defiance, and power struggles; fosters emotional regulation and resilience; and build a more settled, connected home environment.

For Parents of Neurodivergent Adults (23+)

Parents and caregivers of adults with autism, ADHD, and other developmental, learning, or behavioral differences often face new challenges as their children transition out of high school, college, or other structured support systems.

Questions about employment, independent living, continuing education, social relationships, executive functioning, and accessing adult services can quickly feel overwhelming, especially when support suddenly becomes less coordinated than it was during childhood.

A parent coach can help families navigate these transitions, understand available resources and options, and feel more confident supporting a neurodivergent adult’s path toward greater independence and success.

For Parents of Neurodivergent Children and Young Adults (up to age 22)

Parents and caregivers of children with developmental, learning, or behavioral differences are often faced with the overwhelming task of managing challenging behaviors, making educational decisions, coordinating appointments with specialists, and navigating long waitlists for services and evaluations.

It can be difficult to know what steps to take next or where to turn for guidance.

A parent coach can help families make sense of the process, understand their options, and feel more supported and confident as they advocate for their neurodivergent child’s needs.

What you’ll learn in Parent Coaching Sessions

As a parent of a neurodivergent individual, you know that every day brings its own blend of joys and challenges. You want to support your child in ways that honor who they are, while still providing the structure and discipline necessary for their social-emotional development. That’s where understanding executive function comes in.

By learning more about these essential life skills and how they show up differently for neurodivergent individuals, you’ll discover new ways to support them, build on their strengths, and create a home environment where everyone can thrive.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Ways to establish straightforward, repeatable routines for daily transitions and responsibilities, minimizing the need for constant reminders and reducing emotional outbursts or shutdowns.
  • How to provide the right amount of support with tasks—helping your child succeed without hovering, so they can grow into greater independence over time.
  • Why traditional approaches like behavior charts, token systems, and consequences may fall short—and what you can try when your child seems to understand expectations but still struggles to follow through.
  • How to design support plans that focus on building underlying executive function skills, not just managing outward behaviors, so your child is better equipped to complete tasks.
  • How to move from reacting to crises to proactively coaching your child, using short, structured check-ins and practical in-the-moment tools to build self-regulation and problem-solving skills.
  • How to communicate with teachers and therapists.
  • How to develop greater confidence in your parenting—no matter how tough things get, even during school struggles or when it feels like you’ve tried everything else.
